The device has been energised, but the LCD screen and all indicator lights are dead. Below are the steps that should be followed by qualified electrical personnel in order to test and potentially resolve.
Test the voltage on the incoming and supply side of the fuse base that is supplying the meter with power.
If there is no voltage on the incoming side, trace supply and correct upstream.
If no voltage on the supply side, replace fuses and move back to step “a”
Test the voltage on the meters voltage terminals. Voltage should measure +-230v (Phase - Neutral)
If voltage measures 0, move back to step a
If voltage measures +-400v, there is an issue with neutral that should be resolved.
It could be that the neutral wire is not connected. Alternatively, see point iii 2.
The on site contact should trace and resolve the issue.
Note, the meter could be damaged due to high voltage supply.
If voltage measures +-230v but it’s still dead
There could be a possible floating neutral. This needs to be tested.
To test for a floating neutral, measure between the neutral on the meter and the earth on the panel. If it is anything other than close to 0, then there is a floating neutral on the panel.
The on site contact should trace and resolve the issue.
If a floating neutral has been tested and excluded as a potential issue, the hardware on the meter has been damaged and requires replacement.
Device Shows “Sim Config Error” on screen Ensure the sim card is present and installed correctly Manually reset the meter If the issue persists, check with the network provider that the sim is active and has data available, and advise further based ...
The device Shows “Startup 0” on the screen A manual reset is required. If the start-up process does not run, and it goes straight to Startup 0, then the meter requires reprogramming or replacement. If the startup process runs, and it comes back ...
The device shows “AT&F Error”on the screen Replace the sim card with a unit that has been tested and is confirmed working and reset the meter. If the issue persists, the hardware on the meter has been damaged and requires replacement.
Device Shows “M Start Error” on screen This indicates that the modem is not able to start up. This is generally caused by the connector at the bottom of the top green PCB being slightly disconnected. Pull the fuses that supply voltage to the meter. ...
Device shows “FTP6” on the screen This is typically shown when the data on the sim card has been depleted. If within South Africa, contact the network service provider, and confirm that the sim is active and has data available. If additional data is ...
