Resetting a Power Messenger

When needing to reset a Power Messenger, you have two options. 

  1. The preferred method is to remove power from the meter. 
  1. This can be done by pulling the fuses that supply voltage to the meter. The meter lights and screen will shut off.  After a few seconds, push the fuses back in and the meter should re-energise.
  1. If no fuse base is visible, 
  1. remove both the top and bottom plastic covers off the Power Messenger. On the bottom right hand side of the top green board will be a grey/red button. Press and hold the button. The meter lights and screen will shut off.  After a few seconds, release the button and the meter should re-energise.


Successful Meter Start-up Process: 

After the reset, the meter will go through the start-up process.

Once the meter has power, the LCD screen display will come on and the start-up process will commence.


  1. Startup 1,2,3
  2. Startup Success
  3. Modem Config OK
  4. Sim Holder OK
  5. Internet Connect
  6. SMS check done
  7. Signal Strength
  8. Operator Found
  9. HTTP 1, 2, 3, 4. (It might cycle between 1,2,3 until a connection is made before moving to 4)
  10. FTP 1, 2, 3, 4. (It might cycle between 1,2,3 until it starts publishing before moving to 4)
  11. Once the meter is online and publishing, the screen will read, from left to right, (Top Section) FTP: 4, The 5 zeros will start to count, and the signal strength will display on the right.
