Page Overview - Charting

  1. Purpose of Page
    The Charting page provides the user high levels of custom data viewing capabilities for any device, over any period, and for any available metric. It also allows for periods to be compared. 
    This can provide insights on trends and exceptions that could be very specific to a users use-case. 

  2. Select Charting Parameters
    Easily view Month To Date Costs Breakdown and Historical Costs Breakdowns, while having a quick view of 12 Month Cost Trends By Tariff Line Item

    1. Point Selector
      The point selector in the "Select Charting Parameters" modal allows any measurement point to be selected. 
      Multiple measurement points, each with multiple parameters can be selected.
      The functionality order is as follows"
      1. Click on the "Measurement Points" dropdown, and select the point you want to use.
      2. Select the "Parameters" you want to see
      3.  Click "Add Measurement Point" and repeat points 1 and 2
      4. If a previously saved measurement point or parameter needs to be edited or removed, simply click on the edit or delete icon next to the selected parameters. 

        Note that there is a limit of 12 Parameters. As an example, "Power" will count as 1 parameter, and "Demand/Power" will count as 2 parameters. 
        When comparing periods, the maximum number of parameter that can be compared over 2 periods, is 6. If you have 4 parameters, 3 periods can be compared. If you have 2 parameters, 6 periods can be compared and 1 Parameter can be compared over 12 periods. 



    2. Date Selector
      The date selector in the "Select Charting Parameters" modal has multiple date selection options: 
      1. Date Range
        Any custom date range can be selected
      2. Calendar Month
        This allows you to easily select any full calendar month.
        Multiple Months in the same calendar year can be selected
      3. Billing Period
        In order to view a billing period that mirrors your utility account, a Billing Periods need to be created on the bill verification page.
        Once the period has been created, it will appear as an option on the cost breakdown page. Insert link to the article of how to create a billing period
      4. 24 Month
        This allows you to easily select any 24 month period. 
      5. Shifts
        Any custom date range can be selected, as well as the shifts that a user wants to view for that period. 
        Note, Shifts need to be set up in order for this function to be available. 
      6. Compare Periods 
        Any custom date range can be selected. Once the initial period has been selected, any comparative periods will automatically match the initial period. 



  3. Charts
    The selected points and parameters are then displayed in the relevant chart type. 
    Editing this can be done by either clicking one of the 3 edit buttons at the top of the page, or clicking on the edit or delete icons next to the charts. 

    At the top of the charting area, a selector is available to change the charting interval. The period selected will determine the available options. The longer the period, the lower the charting interval available. 

    Dragging the cursor over the chart area will show the data for the relevant time stamp. 

    Clicking and dragging to the left or right on the charting area will zoom in on that specific time stamp. 
    A "Reset Zoom" button will then appear to take you back to the original view.
